Okay, so I feel I took a huge leap when I decided to make my own face wash. DIY face wash? Really? I mean, I’m not a hippie, but I was sick of reading the huge list of chemical ingredients in my face wash and I decided to give it a try…Yes, homemade face wash. All I can say is that I love it. I tested a few recipes, tweaking it along the way, but I finally hit the sweet spot and I am in face wash love.
This stuff is gentle. My husband has very sensitive skin and rarely washed his face because most cleansers were too harsh (even the ones claiming to be for sensitive skin). Anyway, he loves it, too! Anytime I can get my husband (aka skeptic) on board with some new oil concoction, I know I have a winner.
This is recipe is easy to make, and has some unique ingredients.
You might be surprised to learn that raw honey and Almond oil are two of the main ingredients. You want me to wash my face with honey and oil?? Yes! They are both fabulous ingredients.
Honey is soothing and has antibacterial properties, thus it is great for acne prevention and treatment.
Almond oil adds moisture and acts as an anti-inflammatory.
Additionally, the lavender oil restores skin complexion and reduces acne, while peppermint oil cools and sooths inflammation. I love this soap!
Here is the recipe for my Homemade Honey Almond Peppermint Facewash:
Peppermint Honey Face Wash
1 Glass 4-oz pump bottle (buy here)
2 Tbsp Castile Soap (unscented baby soap) (Buy Here)
2 Tbsp raw honey (best to buy local, but if you can’t, BUY HERE)
2 Tbsp distilled water
¼ cup almond oil (Buy Here)
6 drops peppermint oil (learn how I buy pure therapeutic grade essential oils at wholesale pricing)
4 drops lavender oil
1 tsp vitamin E oil (Buy Here)
Mix together well in a bowl with a spout. Pour into bottle. Shake well before use.
The honey does tend to settle to the bottom of the bottle, so I do give it a little shake before I pump, but overall this face wash sooths, smooths, hydrates, and nourishes the skin. After I wash, I apply my Fresh Face Youthful Skin Serum to my face. The perfect combo!
Go ahead, try ditching your store bought facewash for something natural. You might be surprised with how much you like it.
