CREAMY SMOOTH NATURAL SHAVING CREAM
I remember when I first got into essential oils and I made a face serum and some roller balls. I was in heaven. Being able to make my own natural products that really worked (and were inexpensive) blew my mind.
Little did I know that these little oils would change my whole life. Especially my whole skin care life…
If you asked me a year ago if I would be making my own natural shaving cream and deodorant, I would have told you that you’re crazy. I wanted to use essential oils to lead a healthier and more chemical-free lifestyle, but I never realized how addicted I would become.
I first noticed I was turning pretty hippie when I started making my own face wash, but things sort of spiraled from there. Next was body soap, shampoo (which I still haven’t found a recipe I love yet), and now shaving cream. However, once I used this natural shaving cream recipe, it was impossible for me to go back.
If you want your legs to feel silky smooth, totally moisturized, and get an awesome close shave, give this recipe a try!
I also have a Man blend, too!
I chose ingredients that are gentle and nourishing for skin.
What’s in the Shaving Cream?
- Shea butter: packed with vitamins A, E, & F and fatty acids makes it extremely moisturizing for skin because it protects the skin’s natural oils.
- Coconut oil: saturated fats help lock in moisture
- grape seed oil: moisturizes and firms skin
Essential Oils (optional):
Blend for the ladies
- lavender oil: soothes skin irritations and nourishes skin
- peppermint oil: cool and tingling
- pine oil: gentle on skin
- peppermint oil: cooling and tingling
Shaving Cream Recipe
1/2 cup Shea butter
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup grape seed oil
1 teaspoon baking soda (optional gentle exfoliant)
10 drops essential oils
- Lady’s Blend: 5 drops lavender oil & 5 drops peppermint oil
- Manly Blend: 5 drops pine oil & 5 drops peppermint oil
1 wide mouth jar (recommended)
Melt the shea butter and the coconut oil together. I prefer to use a double boiler. Mix in 1/4 cup grape seed oil. After it cools slightly, add the essential oils. Optional: fold in 1T baking soda. (This acts as an exfoliant and also removes oil, allowing for a closer shave) Transfer your shaving cream into jars and enjoy! Let your oil mixture harden up in the fridge 1-2 hours. No fear, if you forget and leave your recipe too long, just set it back on the counter until it is soft enough to whip. I use a hand mixer to do this, but any mixer works well. When you are finished, the mixture will be fluffy.
Seriously, I never thought I would make my own natural shaving cream and love it, but I do! No more commercial shaving cream for me…I can’t go back. This stuff rocks my world!
So if you are ready to up your shave cream and make a fun and easy recipe that will change how you shave forever. Give this baby a try.
