Day 1: Typical Day
Today I will walk you through my typical day…and share tips and recipes on how I infuse essential oils into my life. I am going to focus on oils that come in the Young Living starter kit, since those 11 oils are amazing!
Young Living Premium Starter Kit: A diffuser, Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Frankincense, Copaiba, Thieves, Panaway, RC, Digize, Purification, & Stress Away.
I do use Young Living Essential Oils, because after researching like crazy, these oils are the only ones that I trust to use on my family and me. They are 100% Pure Therapeutic grade oil and they are the only company to have a specific line of oils that can be taken internally. Click here to watch my short video on their Seed to Seal Process.
Let’s get started with my typical day…
Lavender Oil for Scalp
I start with one of my favorite oils…Lavender oil – I love lavender oil!
Yes, it smells good, but not many people are aware of all its healing properties.
For instance, Lavender oil is amazing for skin! Massage 1 or 2 drops onto your scalp after washing hair to support, sooth and nourish a healthy scalp (say no to flakes). Massage oil drops into scalp and then dry as usual.
Bonus – it smells great, too!
Face Serum for Youthful Skin
Fresh Face Roller (Frankincense, Lavender, Purification, & Jojoba) facial serum. This little roller is AMAZING!
I get a lot of people asking for this recipe, so here it is! Often people think it is counter intuitive to rub oils on your face, but actually, certain oils enhance the look of healthy skin, smooth the appearance of skin, and help acne-prone skin. This recipe is a winner.
- 5ml roller
- 1-2 drops each (Frankincense, Lavender, Purification, and Tea Tree oil is optional)
- top with jojoba oil (which is actually a wax – you can but jojoba oil at Trader Joes or on Amazon).
Essential oils are very potent, so a little goes a long way.
- Jojoba oil is good for sensitive and acne-prone skin,
- Frankincense is liquid gold and helps smooth aging skin (Yes, please)!
- Lavender sooths skin, and the
- Purification blend helps keep skin clean is amazing for acne.
I roll this on my face both morning and night after washing my face. After I apply it in the morning, I add sunscreen.
Lavender Oil in Mascara
Okay, I don’t understand this one completely, but it works.
I have read that lavender oil supports healthy hair growth. I can’t say that it does help eyelash grow or get thicker, but I do know that I haven’t needed to curl my eyelashes since I added one drop of lavender to my mascara.
FYI…my mascara is cheap Cover Girl, so it doesn’t have to be super high-end to work.
Drink Oils in Water
Only drink oils from glass, never from plastic!
Young Living has an entire Vitality line of essential oils that are designed to be taken internally. I love drinking them in water. I love the taste which encourages me to drink tons more water.
Additionally, the oils have added benefits. For instance, lemon oil helps to detox the body and peppermint helps curb hunger cravings. This is my new go-to. I can drink it all day long. I find that when I drink this, I do way less mindless eating, and only eat when my body is actually hungry (what a concept)!
I usually add 1 or 2 drops of the oils with my water in the morning and then refill all day long. Just be sure you only use oils in glass or stainless steel. 2 drops each (Lemon & Peppermint oil).
?Lemon – helps flush & detox body
?Peppermint- supports healthy digestive system and curbs sugar/hunger cravings
Peppermint for fresh breath
Super quick breath freshener. Put one drop of peppermint on tongue to freshen breath. ?
(Added benefit…opens sinuses, eases nausea, & curbs hunger cravings).*
Lemon oil to remove crayon & other sticky messes
If you have kids, this tip is for you. Cleaning crayon off butcher block (Lemon Oil)
Brewer decided to draw all over our butcher block counter and our stool with crayon.
The stool had a gloss so the crayon came up easy with just water, but the butcher block seemed to absorb it.
A couple drops lemon oil on a cotton ball did the trick! Lemon oil will also help with other sticky situations…think of it as a non-chemical goo-gone.
Diffuse Peppermint, Lemon & RC
Diffuse peppermint, lemon & RC for an afternoon pick-me-up and to support the respiratory system (I’m a little congested today).
Both peppermint oil and lemon oil encourage uplifting & energizing mood and RC is great for helping open up respiratory channels. I love this diffuser combo in the afternoon when I’m feeling sluggish.
StressAway – Yes please!!
Stress Away – Brew threw a tantrum – the name of this oil says it all. I diffuse it, put it on my temples, wrists, and on the back of my neck. If I could bathe in it, I would. Wait…you can!
¼ cup Epsom salt mixed with 4 drops StressAway added to your bath. Deep sigh…
Happy Hour!! Oils in alcohol
I absolutely love Grapefruit Sculpin, but unfortunately, I don’t always have it on hand.
We usually have some sort of IPA around and now with the help of Grapefruit oil, I can turn any IPA into a Grapefruit IPA. Yum! ?Grapefruit oil is not in the Starter Kit, but it was one of the first oils I bought in addition to the starting 11 oils. I love the taste and it is part of the Weight Management Trio (Lemon, Peppermint, & Grapefruit).*
Jojoba Oil as a natural eye make-up remover
Jojoba Oil makeup remover – no essential oils here because you want to keep essential oils away from your eyes, but Jojoba oil makes a fantastic natural eye makeup remover. I just use 2 drops on a cottonball. Takes it right off.
On a side note, if you ever get an essential oil in your eyes, do not use water to flush it out, instead use some carrier oil (jojoba oil, olive oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil) on a cotton ball and rub it over eyes.
Brush with Thieves
I brush my teeth with toothpaste with 1 drop thieves. I have bad gums. Very bad gums. I brush my teeth with Young Living Thieves toothpaste and a couple times a week I will add a drop of Thieves to my toothpaste. This gives my gums an extra line of defense.
Thanks for spending the day with me. This is just a small snapshot of how I am using my oils and not everyday is the same.

I hope you have a wonderful night and sleep well. I know I will (thanks to my diffuser and oils)! Lavender & Cedarwood (although Lavender & Stress Away is another great nighttime diffuser blend). ?
